The KPK is Monitoring the Import of 105,000 Pickup Trucks from India for the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative Programme - Yeni Lestari/VIVA VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is also monitoring the plan to procure 105,000 units of vehicles from India for the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative Programme, which is being carried out by PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero). The Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, said that the monitoring carried out by the anti-corruption agency is through a corruption risk assessment (RCA). The assessment is carried out by the KPK in the context of preventing corruption, so that in the future, no problems will occur. “Yes, we are simply observing, as long as it is still a potential issue,” said the Chairman of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Setyo said that the KPK will continue to monitor the next steps taken by Agrinas Pangan, after the leadership of the DPR RI suggested that the procurement of hundreds of thousands of vehicles should be postponed. “I think they, the government, already know what is best to ensure that this strategic programme can run well, be useful, and benefit the entire community,” he said. Saving IDR 46.5 Trillion Previously, the President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, claimed that Agrinas Pangan was able to achieve efficiency of up to IDR 46.5 trillion from the procurement of supporting infrastructure for the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative Programme, in the form of procuring 105,000 units of pickup trucks from India. “With the procurement of this infrastructure, Agrinas Pangan can achieve efficiency of IDR 46.5 trillion,” said Joao at a press conference in Jakarta, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Joao denied that the procurement of 105,000 operational vehicles for the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative Programme did not involve local manufacturers. According to him, Agrinas actually offered the procurement tender to local manufacturers first. During the press conference held on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, Joao showed a number of documents of invitations to the procurement to several domestic automotive companies, including the commitment of local manufacturers to supply the vehicle needs of the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative Programme. Several manufacturers agreed to procure units according to the specifications required by Agrinas with limited production capacity. After qualification and negotiation, only local truck manufacturers that met the requirements were able to produce vehicles with a maximum production capacity of 45,000 units. Meanwhile, other popular brands in the country, such as Toyota Astra, Suzuki Carry, and Daihatsu Grandmax, were offered to participate in the tender, but the prices offered were much higher, and according to Joao, the prices were equivalent to the 4x4 pickup trucks imported from India.
