The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued a new investigation order (sprindik) concerning the Ministry of Transport’s DJKA case for projects located in the South Sumatra region.

“We have issued an investigation order without suspects,” stated the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The DJKA case involves allegations of bribery related to the construction and maintenance of railway lines under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transport.

On a separate occasion, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo noted that the new investigation order was issued as of May 2026. “The KPK issued a new investigation order as of May 2026. No suspects have been determined yet,” said Budi.

The case originally came to light following a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK at the Class I Railway Engineering Office for the Central Java Region on 11 April 2023. The KPK subsequently named 10 suspects and detained them in connection with alleged corruption in railway track construction and maintenance projects across Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has identified and detained 21 suspects in this matter, including Sudewo, a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2019-2024 period. Additionally, two corporations have also been named as suspects.

The corruption allegations encompass several projects, including the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso double-track railway, railway line construction in Makassar, four railway construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan, Cianjur, as well as projects for the repair of level crossings between Java and Sumatra. The investigation suggests that project winners were allegedly manipulated through engineering processes ranging from the administrative stage to the final tender determination.
