KPK Detains Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut until 31 March 2026
The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) has detained former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag), Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, as a suspect in a corruption case involving the Hajj quota scheme on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, stated that Yaqut has been detained for the first 20 days.
“Today the KPK has detained the suspect, Mr YCQ (Yaqut), for the first 20 days. Calculated from 12-31 March 2026,” said Asep during a press conference at the KPK’s Red and White Building, Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Asep explained that Yaqut is being held at the KPK’s branch detention facility at the Red and White Building.
“The detention is being conducted at the state detention facility branch of the Red and White Building,” he added.
Earlier reports indicated that the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) officially detained former Religious Affairs Minister (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in the Hajj quota corruption case.
Yaqut was detained after undergoing questioning at the Red and White Building in his capacity as a suspect on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Yaqut descended from the second floor interrogation room at approximately 18:45 Western Indonesia Time. He was wearing an orange vest with both hands shackled.
At that time, Yaqut insisted that he had never received a single rupiah in the alleged bribery case.
“I have never received a single rupiah from the case with which I am charged, and I have implemented all these policies solely for the safety of pilgrims,” said Yaqut as he was led to the detention vehicle on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
