KPK Confirms Summons to Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Complies with Regulations
JAKARTA — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the summons issued to former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the 2024 pilgrimage quota has been issued in accordance with regulations.
“The examination summons issued by investigators to the concerned party is in compliance with procedures,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a message to journalists on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Previously, Yaqut’s attorney, Melissa Anggraini, had raised concerns about verifying the KPK summons to her client, noting that the summons was sent whilst pre-trial proceedings were ongoing.
“Therefore, we have also questioned the summons dated 6 March 2026, considering that pre-trial proceedings are still underway. We have already coordinated with the KPK on this matter,” she said.
The KPK had scheduled an examination of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas regarding the alleged corruption case involving the pilgrimage quota for the 2023-2024 period on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
“It is correct that today, Thursday (12 March), investigators have scheduled an examination of YCQ in connection with the alleged criminal offence of corruption related to the pilgrimage quota for the implementation of Indonesia’s pilgrimage for 2023-2024,” Budi said.
“The examination of YCQ is conducted with his status as a suspect,” he added.
Budi stated that the examination would be conducted at the KPK’s Red and White Building headquarters.
“We believe that the concerned party will cooperate and comply with this summons,” he said.
