KPAI urges parents to manage return schedules to prevent children from becoming exhausted
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has reminded parents that schedules and routes for the return journey must be managed properly to avoid exhausting children as they return to school after the Eid holiday. “The long holiday period is about to end, signalling the time for children to prepare to return to school benches or pesantren. For those using the holiday until the last day, thorough preparation for the return flow journey is crucial,” said KPAI Deputy Chairman Jasra Putra when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday. Jasra Putra stated that families using public transport, such as trains and aeroplanes, tend to have lower risks of congestion. However, for those using land routes, KPAI urges the public to always pay attention to advice from on-site officials and comply with traffic signs for a safe, comfortable, and smooth return flow. In general, KPAI views this year’s mudik organisation as running well. Nevertheless, KPAI reminds field officers not to be complacent. “The potential for traffic density in the return flow on the last days of the holiday still requires engineering and anticipatory measures to reduce fatigue factors among the public, especially children,” said Jasra Putra. Based on the 2026 Eid school holiday schedule, the government has set educational units from PAUD, SD, SMP, to SMA/equivalent for a two-week break from 16 March to 27 March 2026. Subsequently, students are scheduled to return to school on Monday (30/3).
