“KPAI recommends that the regional technical implementation unit for the protection of women and children (UPTD PPA) provide psychological assistance to the victim’s family. KPAI sees that the victim’s mother and family need psychological support,” KPAI member Diyah Puspitarini said when contacted here on Friday.

In addition, the region’s social affairs office has also been requested to provide social assistance to the victim’s family, in accordance with Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection.

KPAI also called for psychosocial support to be given to seven child witnesses in the case.

“KPAI recommends psychosocial assistance for the seven witnesses who saw the incident. These seven witnesses have not yet received psychological support. They are also children in conflict with the law and are experiencing trauma,” Puspitarini said.

Previously, a junior high school student identified with the initials WAP (14) in Sragen District died on Tuesday (April 7) allegedly due to bullying by a peer identified as DTP (14).

The incident began when the victim was attending a social studies class, while the perpetrator was in a mathematics class in another room.

However, due to the absence of supervising teachers, the students left their classrooms to engage in other activities.

The victim and the perpetrator then engaged in joking and teasing, which escalated into a physical fight.

As a result of the violence, the victim fainted at school and was taken to a local health center. However, the victim later died.

The Sragen District Police have upgraded the case to the investigation stage and designated DTP as a child in conflict with the law.
