KP2MI signs cooperation to strengthen human resources, promote safe migration
Jakarta — The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Ministry (KP2MI) signed six memoranda of understanding and three cooperation agreements with seven strategic partners to strengthen the development of human resources (HR) and to socialise safe migration.
“This is in order to strengthen the synergy between the Ministry and stakeholders,” said Minister Mukhtarudin after the signing ceremony at KP2MI in Jakarta on Thursday.
On the occasion, KP2MI signed memoranda of understanding with the Association of All Indonesian Regional House of Representatives (ADKASI), the PB HMI (Central Board of the Hizb al-Islam Students Association), the HMI-Wati Corps of PB HMI, Dunia Mosque Youth, the Indonesian Clinical Psychologists Association (IPK Indonesia), and PT Bama Berita Sarana Televisi (Garuda TV).
Mukhtarudin emphasised that the signing was undertaken to create a protection ecosystem for PMI (Indonesian migrant workers), from upstream to downstream.
In particular, in 2026, KP2MI plans a national PMI aman campaign. The campaign is designed to address issues related to migrant workers.
“If we fix things at the upstream end, then the downstream outcomes will automatically be better as well. It is the upstream that we will involve a wide range of stakeholders, both in terms of creating human resources or HR, and in terms of our socialisation,” Mukhtarudin explained.
The socialisation is deemed necessary to prevent the public from potentially becoming victims of trafficking in persons (TIP), fraud from fake job advertisements, and misinformation that people face almost daily.
“This is due to the public’s ignorance,” said Mukhtarudin.
