Bali Governor Wayan Koster has reminded companies recruiting Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) not to deceive the public, particularly Balinese residents or krama Bali. Koster stated that companies engaging in fraud related to sending workers abroad will face firm action.

“Firm measures will be taken to prevent fraud or other forms of deception that harm our Balinese children,” Koster said during his speech marking one year of leadership at the 28th plenary session of the Bali Provincial DPRD, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

The Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov Bali), he added, will enhance access, quality, and competitiveness for PMI originating from Bali. Koster noted that many overseas companies are interested in employing Balinese krama as workers.

According to Koster, Balinese krama who become PMI abroad possess strong competencies. He claimed this is inseparable from efforts to improve quality and supervision before working overseas.

“Balinese PMI are exceptionally skilled, orderly, disciplined, and high-quality abroad. Thus, they are highly sought after by several countries in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East,” Koster added.

Social Security for Religious Figures in Bali

On that occasion, Koster also touched on the social security and employment programme for religious figures on the Island of the Gods. This social security is provided for ulama, priests, pastors, sulinggih, pemangku, and monks.

“We are reviving this programme to provide protection to religious figures because they have a very noble task of preaching about the universe and its contents, including all of us,” Koster said.

“So we must truly provide protection to these noble figures,” he added.
