Korlantas Extends One-Way Traffic Scheme for Lebaran 2026 Exodus to Kilometre 236
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Traffic Police Corps (Korlantas) will extend the application of one-way traffic engineering during the 2026 Lebaran exodus.
Whereas the one-way scheme was previously implemented from kilometre 70 to kilometre 188, this year the policy has been extended to kilometre 236.
Irjen Agus Suryonugroho, head of Korlantas Polri, stated that the policy was adopted following an evaluation of traffic management during the previous mudik season. “Last year, it was from kilometre 70 to 188. We evaluated it, and now we are going directly from 70 to 236,” Agus said on Thursday (12 March 2026). “This will speed up and improve traffic flow related to the volume of traffic on toll roads heading towards Java, including routes heading towards Sumatra,” he added.
In addition to extending the one-way route, Korlantas Polri is also deploying digital technology to monitor vehicle movements in real time during the mudik period. The technology is used to count vehicle numbers at several strategic points, particularly on toll road sections.
With this system, Agus explained, decisions on implementing traffic engineering are no longer based on estimates, but on actual vehicle count data monitored directly in the field. For example, if approximately 5,500 vehicles pass through kilometre 47 within one hour, officers will immediately implement a one-lane contraflow measure. If vehicle numbers increase to approximately 6,400 units within two consecutive hours, the contraflow will be expanded to two lanes.
Agus emphasised that all policies will be implemented flexibly, taking into consideration traffic counting data continuously monitored throughout the 2026 Lebaran mudik period.
