Konawe — Deputy Regent of Konawe H. Syamsul Ibrahim, representing Regent H. Yusran Akbar, attended the 2025 International Labour Day (May Day) commemoration held at PT Opsidian Stainless Steel (PT OSS) in Morosi District, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, on 1 May 2025.
In his address, the Deputy Regent said, "Today we gather to commemorate International Labour Day 2025, under the theme 'Weaving Togetherness for the Improvement of Workers' Welfare and National Productivity'. I wish to convey my highest appreciation to all workers and labourers in Konawe Regency for their contributions to economic and social development in our region."
"International Labour Day is an apt moment for us to reflect on the importance of workers in our nation's development. Workers are the backbone of the economy and we must ensure they receive fair and proper treatment," Syamsul Ibrahim said.
The Deputy Regent added that the Konawe Regency Government is committed to improving the welfare of workers and labourers. "We will continue to work with all parties to ensure that workers receive fair wages, safe working conditions, fulfilment of their rights, and adequate social security in accordance with existing labour laws and regulations," he said.
"I also wish to encourage all workers and labourers to continue improving their skills and knowledge so they can compete in an increasingly competitive labour market," he added.
"I hope this commemoration can serve as a moment for us all to heighten our awareness and commitment to workers' welfare and economic development in this region," the Deputy Regent concluded.
