Kompolnas Building Relocates, Police Chief Hopes for Greater Independence
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo hopes that the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) will become more independent following the relocation of its office from the Police Academy of Higher Education (PTIK) Complex in Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, to Duren Tiga, Pancoran, South Jakarta.
“Of course, with this new building, Kompolnas will become increasingly independent as a strategic partner of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to ensure that the Polri institution can truly carry out its duties professionally,” said Listyo at the Kompolnas office in Duren Tiga, Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Listyo stated that Polri requires extensive input and evaluation from Kompolnas.
According to him, this can make the Polri institution better, more professional, and responsive to public complaints so that they can be followed up promptly.
Listyo emphasised that violations within the Polri institution should naturally be addressed immediately.
“Of course, we in Polri are open to continuous improvements, so that what the public expects from the Polri institution, with this new Kompolnas building, we hope everything can become better,” he asserted.
This relocation was inaugurated by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) and Kompolnas Chairman Djamari Chaniago together with Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on Monday (5/5/2026).
“Today, I, together with the Police Chief, inaugurated the use of the new office for Kompolnas. Previously, Kompolnas was located near the Polri Headquarters there, now it has moved here,” said Djamari during a press conference at the Kompolnas office on Monday.
According to him, the new location was chosen so that the public does not hesitate to come and feels more comfortable because it is in an area open to the public.
“And to eliminate reluctance to come to the PTIK area. And we at Kompolnas also feel proud when we are here inaugurating this,” he emphasised.
