Komnas HAM pushes for TGPF formation to enhance transparency in Adrie Yunus case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) is pushing for the establishment of a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to strengthen transparency and accountability in handling the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
This push comes amid growing public attention to the law enforcement process, including the need to ensure victim protection and information openness during the investigation.
Komnas HAM Commissioner Amiruddin al Rahab, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, assessed that the presence of a TGPF could serve as a strategic mechanism to bridge the need for transparency while strengthening public trust.
“To address these three issues, it would be good for Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, and Security Affairs (Menko KumHAM) Imipas to take the initiative to form a Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) regarding the incident that befell Andrie Yunus. The TGPF would be able to bridge public doubts about the investigation by the TNI on one side, and on the other side, the TGPF would be able to maintain the transparency of the TNI’s investigation,” said Amiruddin.
According to him, the TGPF could function as a collaborative forum involving various elements, making the fact-finding process more comprehensive and balanced.
This mechanism is also deemed important to ensure that every stage of case handling proceeds with principles of accountability and pays attention to witness and victim protection.
In addition, Amiruddin emphasised that the existence of the TGPF has the potential to strengthen the quality of law enforcement by ensuring the process does not stop at field perpetrators alone, but also traces parties with broader roles in the incident.
“The TGPF can also ensure that the legal process does not stop only at the four names of people previously announced by the TNI’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Military Police,” he said.
Komnas HAM views the formation of the TGPF as an important step to strengthen the principles of transparency, independence, and justice in handling the case. Through this approach, it is hoped that the legal process not only runs according to procedure but also meets public expectations for credible and just law enforcement.
