JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has summoned Google and Meta, suspected of violations due to non-compliance with Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas).

In the summoning process conducted on Monday (6/4/2026) and Tuesday (7/4/2026), Google and Meta were grilled with 29 questions by Komdigi.

“There are 29 questions that we have posed to delve into the alleged violations of the regulation that has already been declared applicable in Indonesia,” said Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, during a press conference at the Komdigi Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Google encompasses platforms such as YouTube, Google Search, and Android, while Meta oversees several social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

Alex himself did not reveal more details regarding the questions submitted to Google or Meta.

However, the questions focus on the implementation of the ministerial regulation that serves as a derivative rule from PP Tunas.

“So our focus is on Article 30 of the Ministerial Regulation on the implementation of PP Tunas,” said Alex.

The regulation requires digital platforms to restrict children’s access according to age and to strengthen the protection of children’s personal data.

Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid stated that X and Bigo Live have complied with the implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas), which was officially implemented on Saturday (28/3/2026).

Meanwhile, TikTok and Roblox have expressed a cooperative stance for some aspects. They are still requesting time to complete requirements and prepare technical implementations in their applications.

“There is no compromise on compliance, and every business entity operating in Indonesia must adhere to the laws that also apply in Indonesia,” Meutya concluded.
