Komdigi Gives Three Months for Digital Platforms to Fulfil Risk Assessment Obligations
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has given a three-month deadline to all Electronic System Operators (PSE) to fulfil their obligation to conduct a self-assessment of platform risk profiles. This provision is part of the implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS). Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid emphasised that all digital platforms are required to report the results of their self-assessment of risk profiles within the stipulated timeframe. “To other platforms, report the results of the self-assessment of risk profiles independently for all digital platforms within three months,” said Meutya on Thursday (9/4/2026). As of now, Meutya stated that YouTube, under Google’s umbrella, is the only one out of eight platforms that has not yet complied with the provision. In Minister of Komdigi Regulation No. 9 of 2026, as the implementing regulation for PP TUNAS, various sanctions are outlined for platforms that fail to comply, ranging from administrative warnings, temporary access suspension, to full access disconnection. According to Meutya, the government has noted that several platforms have demonstrated good faith in adhering to applicable laws in Indonesia. “We will not hesitate to take firm action again against platforms that evade their obligations or violate the law in Indonesia,” she stated. The government views compliance by digital platforms with this regulation as a crucial step to strengthen child protection in the digital realm. “It is not a technical issue that is the obstacle. This is a matter of willingness and intent from major platforms to comply with the law in Indonesia,” she added. Komdigi emphasises that this policy was formulated transparently because it directly concerns public interests, particularly in creating a safer digital ecosystem for children.
