Rows of 4x4 pickup trucks were neatly parked in the Karanganyar Town Square area, Central Java, on Monday morning, 11 May 2026. These light commercial vehicles, equipped with four-wheel drive, open cargo beds, and diesel engines, were all white in colour. There were 30 units in total. The vehicles were lined up there before being officially handed over to village heads and Red and White Village Cooperative management teams in various areas of Karanganyar Regency.

The government has begun distributing thousands of these imported operational vehicles to support the Red and White Village Cooperatives programme in several regions. In Karanganyar Regency, the symbolic handover of 30 4x4 pickup trucks was carried out by Kodim 0727/Karanganyar together with the Regency Government to village heads and Red and White Village Cooperative managers today.

Kodim 0727/Karanganyar Commander Lieutenant Colonel of Cavalry Dhanang Prasetyo Kurniawan stated that the distribution of these vehicles represents the initial stage of the target to procure 170 operational vehicles for cooperatives across the entire Karanganyar area.

“Today, Kodim 0727/Karanganyar, together with the Regency Government apparatus, has symbolically handed over 30 operational vehicles in the form of 4x4 pickup trucks to support the sustainability of the Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives,” said Dhanang to reporters after the symbolic handover of the 4x4 pickup trucks to village heads and Red and White Village Cooperative managers in Karanganyar Town Square on Monday, 11 May 2026.

According to him, the number of vehicles will be adjusted to the number of Red and White Village Cooperative sites being built in Karanganyar. To date, the physical construction progress of the cooperatives has reached 146 sites, or about 85 percent of the overall target.

“Although there are some obstacles related to the use of Protected Paddy Fields and green areas that require special permitting processes, the government is optimistic that operations of some cooperatives can begin in mid-May,” he said.

He explained that the government targets the completion of all cooperative sites by the end of July to mid-August 2026. In the vehicle distribution, Dhanang emphasised that the operational vehicles for cooperatives must not be used for the personal interests of officials or village apparatus. According to him, these vehicles are state assets intended to support cooperative economic activities.

“These vehicles are handed over to village heads to be managed professionally to support cooperative logistics needs, not for the personal interests of village officials,” he said.

Therefore, Kodim, together with the local government, has asked village heads to share responsibility in overseeing the use of these vehicles. Supervision also involves Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas in each area.

“Therefore, village heads along with Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas are asked to share responsibility in escorting and maintaining these state assets so that their lifespan is long and provides long-term benefits to the community,” said Dhanang.

In addition to the 4x4 pickup trucks, the government will gradually provide other supporting facilities for the operations of Red and White Village Cooperatives. These aids include transport trucks, three-wheeled vehicles, and iron shelving equipment.

“In addition to the vehicle units, support for other infrastructure such as trucks, three-wheeled vehicles, and iron shelving equipment will also be provided gradually,” he said.

Dhanang stated that the Red and White Village Cooperatives programme is part of implementing the President’s instructions to strengthen the people’s economy at the village level.

“This KDKMP programme is a concrete step in carrying out the President’s instructions to strengthen the people’s economy and improve the welfare of residents at the village level through resilient cooperatives,” he said.

Agus Supadiyono, Head of Rejosari Village, Gondangrejo Subdistrict, Karanganyar Regency, welcomed the distribution of operational vehicles for KDKMP. According to him, the vehicles can immediately be utilised to support village economic activities, especially ahead of the harvest season.

“Yes, of course, if asked, we are grateful. Because this is a government programme that we have supported from the beginning,” said Agus.

Agus said that the cooperative building in his village has been completed several months ago. Supporting facilities, including air conditioning, are also already available. Therefore, according to him, the distribution of operational vehicles has come at the right time.

“Coincidentally, we have finished building the structure, and we already have the AC. So today we receive the vehicles, and later there will be members starting to collect their contributions,” he said.

He stated that the operational vehicles will be used for various cooperative needs, from distributing goods to residents’ needs to supporting the village’s agricultural sector.

“So perhaps we will soon use them, both for purchasing daily necessities for residents and later perhaps helping the agricultural programme. So, as harvest season approaches, this seems timely for the vehicles to arrive today,” he said.

According to Agus, one of the functions of the vehicles will be to transport residents’ harvest yields. “Yes, one of them is that,” he said.

He said that the cooperative in Rejosari Village is currently in the early operational stage. Member contribution collection has already begun, and the cooperative management is preparing business schemes, including determining the types of products to be marketed to members.

“Our cooperative has started receiving contributions. This might start purchasing. We are also holding meetings to figure out the bookkeeping for what products we need,” he said.

Agus mentioned that the cooperative plans to provide essential needs packages for members with several package options. “We plan to make packages for the members. So packages A, B, C, D at certain prices,” he said.

Although the cooperative building has been completed, Agus said the cooperative has not yet been officially opened because it is still waiting for the key handover process. However, all main operational facilities
