East Jakarta’s Satpol PP highlighted two large holes in the railway barrier wall in the Klender area, Duren Sawit subdistrict, East Jakarta. The holes are suspected to have been deliberately created as an access point for participants in a clash between residents that occurred on Monday (25 May) morning. The clash involving two groups of residents took place around 6:30 AM WIB on I Gusti Ngurah Rai Road, at the border area between Klender and Cipinang Muara village. The morning rush hour clash caused severe disruptions to commuter traffic. ‘The clash occurred in the Kebon Singkong area of Klender village, Duren Sawit subdistrict. They are suspected to have clashed with residents from Cipinang Jagal, Cipinang village, Pulogadung subdistrict, located opposite the railway line and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Road,’ said East Jakarta Satpol PP chief Muhammadong on Monday (25 May).

JOINT PERSONNEL DEPLOYED

In response to the clash during the morning rush hour, dozens of joint personnel from the police, Polda Metro Jaya Brimob, and Satpol PP were immediately deployed to the scene to disperse the crowd. Muhammadong stated that his office deployed around 30 Satpol PP personnel to assist in dispersing the crowd alongside police and Brimob forces. ‘We deployed approximately 30 Satpol PP personnel to help disperse the clash on I Gusti Ngurah Rai Road,’ Muhammadong said. Despite the swift response, no suspects were apprehended during the incident. All involved groups fled before authorities could take action. However, officers found evidence at the scene, including eight arrows and six rocket firework casings suspected to have been used during the clash.

WALL DELIBERATELY BREACHED

Meanwhile, the breach of the railway barrier wall has raised concerns about weak access control around the train tracks. Cipinang Muara village head Komarudin stressed that the situation requires serious attention as it threatens both community safety and train travel security. ‘Two large holes were found in the railway barrier wall. They are suspected to have been deliberately breached for access by the perpetrators,’ Komarudin said. In response to the findings, the village administration immediately deployed five Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers to clean up scattered stone debris and firework remnants on the road to ensure road user safety. As of 8:20 AM WIB, joint personnel from Brimob, Satpol PP, and local police remained on standby at vulnerable points around the scene to prevent any further clashes. The barrier construction was also a local community proposal.
