KL to raise power tariff
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysian power giant Tenaga Nasional Bhd.
said over the weekend its new proposed tariff hike will not
burden consumers.
Executive Chairman Ahmad Tajuddin Ali said the load arising
from the proposed package of adjustments to electricity tariffs
would be absorbed by the government, independent power producers
(IPPs), Tenaga Nasional and consumers.
State-owned Tenaga submitted its proposal for new power
tariffs in late March, possibly including a cap on fuel prices
and tax breaks to help improve its finances as credit obligations
increase.
Details of the proposed tariff hike which is currently being
studied by the government have yet to be made public.
