KL ready to host World Youth Cup

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)
certified yesterday Malaysia's readiness to host the FIFA/Coca-
Cola World Youth championship.

"Malaysia has always shown itself to be a good organizer of
major sporting events and it looks certain that the World Youth
Championships will be no exception," AFC secretary-general Peter
Velappan said.

Earlier concerns over Malaysia's readiness in terms of field
conditions, promotions and whether renovation works at the six
venues would be completed on time had been satisfactorily
resolved, he said.
