KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The province will host an
international kite festival in July, Antara reported yesterday,

It quoted head of the provincial tourism office Andi Noor
Karim as saying that participants will come from Malaysia,
Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Australia, Japan and
the United States.

The province will exhibit its traditional kites made of bamboo
and cassava leaves, known locally as kolope, with strings spun of
pineapple fibers. (swe)
