Public awareness in Batam, Riau Islands, regarding the importance of children’s identity documents shows a positive trend. The Batam City Civil Registration and Population Office (Disdukcapil) recorded 3,878 Children’s Identity Cards (KIA) issued within a week, from 20 to 26 May 2026. This surge was driven by improved access through digital service transformation implemented by local authorities. Official data shows daily issuance figures steadily rising: 560 on 20 May, rising to 702 (21 May), 780 (22 May), 870 (25 May), and peaking at 966 on 26 May 2026. Batam Disdukcapil Chief Sri Miranthy Adhisty stated the agency is committed to providing fast, easy, and free services. She said the online system is key to increased public enthusiasm in processing identity documents. ‘Residents no longer need to visit offices and queue. Simply create an account, upload documents, and monitor the process in real-time. This step is part of our commitment to responsive public services,’ Adhisty said on Friday (29 May). The digital platform also handles electronic KTPs, family cards (KK), birth certificates, and death certificates. The transformation aims to not only expedite administrative processes but also enhance overall public service quality in Batam. The significant increase is also seen as parents proactively completing their children’s administrative requirements ahead of school registration or accessing healthcare and banking services for those under 17.
