Agus Wijayanto Nugroho, Commissioner for Information Dispute Resolution at the Jakarta Information Commission (KI DKI), has reminded public bodies not merely to upload documents but to understand public information services.

“Websites are the primary hub for public information. However, social media is also crucial for disseminating website content, activity reports, and various public service information,” Agus said in Jakarta on Monday.

He stressed the importance of strengthening public information services and digitalisation during a visitation to Kelurahan Baru in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

During the visit, Agus stated that the Jakarta Provincial Information Commission does not only monitor via the E-Monev application but also provides direct guidance to public bodies ahead of verification stages scheduled to begin in late August or September 2026.

“Our purpose in meeting is not only to communicate directly but also to provide important notes as preparation for future monitoring and evaluation,” he said.

Agus noted that regulations for information services are already available and can be downloaded and published via public bodies’ official websites.

He also reminded the importance of staff understanding the Public Information Disclosure Law (KIP).

According to Agus, public bodies need to provide clear information request procedures so citizens understand the service mechanism, even if front desk staff do not fully grasp the regulations in detail.

“Please assist in responding to and answering information requests where possible. If there are objections or further issues, these can be resolved through information dispute resolution,” he said.

He added that Kelurahan Baru currently has a score of 86 and falls into the ‘towards informative’ category, with KI DKI hoping it will reach the ‘informative’ category with a minimum score of 90.

Agus explained that several points require attention and follow-up, including strengthening regulations, documentation of reports, and public information digitalisation.

Meanwhile, Kelurahan Baru Secretary Jamilah expressed appreciation for KI DKI’s visit and guidance.

“We are grateful that Kelurahan Baru remains in the ‘towards informative’ category. Despite limitations, especially with new officials in the village administration, we remain optimistic about achieving the informative category this year,” Jamilah said.

She added that they are continuously making incremental improvements to meet various public information openness indicators.

On the same occasion, Agus also praised the East Jakarta City Government’s responsive initiatives in supporting public information openness through the involvement of districts and villages.
