Malang, East Java (ANTARA) — East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa distributed social assistance, business capital grants, gratuities, and zakat to thousands of beneficiaries in Malang Regency, East Java, on Sunday.

“This is part of the process of ensuring that assistance reaches beneficiaries to the fullest extent. Recipients include those under the Inclusive and Productive Entrepreneurship (KIP) Jawara programme and the Family of Hope Programme (PKH) Plus social assistance,” Khofifah said at Pendopo Agung in Malang Regency.

According to data from the East Java Social Affairs Agency, PKH Plus beneficiaries in Malang Regency comprise 2,083 families receiving social assistance, 135 individuals receiving disability social assistance (ASPD), and 12 individuals receiving KIP Putri Jawara business capital grants.

A further eight individuals received KIP Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS) Jawara assistance, 108 individuals received KIP Beneficiary Family (KPM) Jawara grants, and 55 individuals received food assistance from child welfare institutions (LKSA).

A total of 222 social assistance facilitators and disaster response volunteers (Tagana) received operational support and gratuities, whilst 50 individuals were awarded productive zakat.

“We hope this can stimulate the programme we envision, namely economic independence. There are indeed elements that are charitable in nature as well,” she said.

The disbursement also covered assistance for Village-Owned Enterprises, Empowered Villages, and the Jatim Puspa programme, with a total of nine villages as recipients.

“We transfer funds directly to the bank accounts of social assistance recipients, including special financial assistance (BKK) from the Village Community Empowerment Agency for Malang Regency. Everything I have mentioned is funded from the East Java provincial budget (APBD),” she said.

She explained that the efforts serve as a social safety net whilst simultaneously strengthening the community’s economy so that people can escape poverty.

For social assistance facilitators, the grants represent a form of appreciation and a means of supporting their assistance duties.

She added that the monitoring and updating of beneficiary data ensures that the assistance reaches its intended recipients.
