Jakarta, Kompas.com — KG Media has deployed a combined reporting team called “Tim Mudik Gesit Lebaran 2026” to cover the homecoming and return travel situation for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H on Friday, 13 March 2026.

The deployment ceremony was attended by Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordinating Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Korlantas Police Deputy Commander Brigadier General Pol Faizal, Jasa Marga Chief Executive Officer Rivan Ahmad Purwantono, Jasa Raharja Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Awaluddin, Jasa Raharja Putera Chief Executive Officer Abdul Haris, and Road Traffic Director at the Ministry of Transportation Rudi Irawan.

KG Media Chief Executive Officer Andi Budiman, in his remarks, emphasised that mudik (homecoming) is far more than merely a routine annual tradition for people to return to their hometowns.

Mudik represents the stories and struggles of people seeking their fortunes abroad who wish to reunite with family in their villages.

“The mudik season has always been a major event in Indonesia. This is not just about the movement of millions of people returning to their hometowns, but also a story about hope, togetherness, and perseverance during the journey,” said Andi Budiman.

Journalists play a crucial role in reporting factual information from the field during this important annual tradition.

Field reporters are tasked with delivering accurate and timely information so that travellers can understand journey conditions, make sound decisions, and remain safe during travel.

“We extend our gratitude to the entire team that will be on duty, whether in the field, on road routes, at terminals, stations, ports, airports, and other strategic points,” said Andi.

Time pressure, dynamic situations, and congestion along mudik routes present significant challenges for reporters covering field conditions.

“However, we are confident that with professionalism, team collaboration, and the journalistic spirit we have always upheld together, our colleagues will be able to carry out this task well,” he said.

He urged KG Media journalists to prioritise the safety of themselves and their teams whilst reporting on the mudik travel situation.

“Uphold the principles of accurate, balanced, and responsible journalism. Always maintain team cohesion and communication so that the task can be completed properly,” said Andi.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono also expressed appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of the KG Media reporting team tasked with monitoring the mudik travel flow.
