Kerry Anak Riza Chalid Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison in Crude Oil Management Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak (PT OTM) and PT Jenggala Maritim Nusantara (PT JMN), Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in a corruption case related to the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina Persero.
“The court has found the defendant, Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza, guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in prison and a fine of IDR 1 billion, or 190 days of imprisonment in default,” said the chairman of the panel of judges, Fajar Kusuma Aji, while reading out the verdict in a hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Friday (27/2/2026).
Kerry Adrianto was found guilty of committing illegal acts in several procurement projects within the Pertamina company.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of IDR 2.9 trillion, or 5 years of imprisonment in default.
Gading and Dimas are defendants in a separate case file.
The judge was convinced that the lease of the fuel terminal owned by PT OTM was an illegal act.
This is because the fuel terminal was not an urgent need for PT Pertamina from the beginning.
However, due to the intervention of Kerry’s father, Mohamad Riza Chalid, the terminal lease project was included in Pertamina’s investment plan in 2014.
In addition, the procurement of three ships owned by Kerry was also found to be an illegal act because the procurement process did not comply with the applicable rules and auction procedures.
Before the ships were officially registered as assets under the name of PT JMN, the proposal for cooperation with Pertamina had already been discussed.
At the same time, Kerry applied for a loan from Bank Mandiri to purchase the three ships, which would later be contracted to Pertamina.
The panel of judges was convinced that Kerry, Dimas, and Gading had enriched themselves while also causing losses to the state.
The lease of the fuel terminal owned by PT OTM caused financial losses to the state amounting to IDR 2.9 trillion.
Meanwhile, the lease of the three ships, which were assets of PT JMN, was found to have caused losses to the state amounting to USD 9,860,514.31 or USD 9.8 million and IDR 1,073,619,047.00 or IDR 1.07 billion.
