Kepri Fuel Supply Alert: Government Urges Public Not to Panic Buy
Tito Karnavian says fuel and food stocks remain secure before Eid travel
Authorities in the Riau Islands are urging residents to stay calm after concerns emerged over possible fuel shortages, insisting that supplies remain stable ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
Government Says Fuel Supply Is Still Safe
Residents in the Riau Islands have been told not to panic over rumors of a possible fuel shortage in Indonesia. Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian said fuel stocks for the public remain secure.
He also stressed that national economic stability remains under control as the country approaches the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.
Public Urged Not to Panic Buy
Tito called on the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, whether for fuel or basic necessities. He warned that unnecessary stockpiling could disrupt normal distribution and create avoidable pressure on supplies.
According to him, public cooperation is essential to keeping market conditions stable during the busy holiday season.
Regional Leaders Told to Coordinate Supply Chains
The minister said he has instructed all regional heads to immediately coordinate with distributors and business operators to ensure smooth food and energy supply chains in their respective areas.
He emphasized that local administrations must move quickly to verify that logistics systems are functioning properly and that essential goods remain available to the public.
Eid Travel And Tourist Security Also Prioritized
Beyond supply issues, Tito said safety and comfort along holiday travel routes and at tourist destinations are also major priorities. Local leaders have been directed to maintain oversight in their assigned regions during the Eid period.
The goal, he said, is to ensure stable prices, secure travel conditions, and public confidence throughout one of the busiest national holidays of the year.
Message Focused On Stability And Calm
Tito’s remarks were intended to reassure the public that both fuel and food supplies are being monitored closely. He said the government wants to maintain a sense of security and convenience for communities during the holiday season.
For Kepri residents, the message is clear: do not rush to buy more than needed, because the government says supply preparations are already in place.
The government’s response in the Riau Islands reflects a broader effort to prevent fear from disrupting essential supply chains ahead of Eid. For Indonesians, the key issue is not only fuel availability but public confidence in how authorities manage holiday demand. For Singaporeans, especially those with close economic and travel links to Kepri, stable supplies and smooth holiday logistics in the province also matter because the region remains tightly connected to cross-border trade and movement.
