Kendari Prison Head Suspended Following Inmate's Trip to Coffee Shop
Acting Head of Kendari Class IIA Prison La Ode Mustakim and two of his officials have been removed from their positions. They were suspended as part of ongoing investigations following the viral video of former Kolaka Harbourmaster Supriadi, a prisoner in a corruption case, visiting a coffee shop.
“Ongoing further examinations have been conducted on the escorting officers involved, two related structural officials, and the Prison Head,” said Rika Aprianti, Deputy Head of Cooperation at the Directorate General of Corrections under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Ditjenpas Kemenimipas), to reporters on Friday (17/4/2026).
Rika explained that, due to their examination status, the Prison Head, two prison officials, and the officers escorting Supriadi have been reassigned. They are undergoing in-depth scrutiny by the Directorate General of Corrections’ Internal Compliance Operational Unit.
“They have also been reassigned to the Directorate General of Corrections for examination by the Internal Compliance Operational Unit of Ditjenpas,” Rika stated.
Supriadi has now been transferred to Nusakambangan Island, Cilacap, Central Java. Rika said Supriadi was moved to a maximum-security prison.
Previously reported, officials at Kendari Class IIA Prison stated that Supriadi was officially released from custody to attend a case review hearing (PK). In the widely circulated video on social media, Supriadi is seen walking from a mosque, accompanied by an officially dressed Harbourmaster officer, to a coffee shop on Jalan Abunawas, Bende Ward, Kadia Subdistrict, Kendari, on Tuesday (14/4) afternoon.
In response to the incident, Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto has directed Ditjenpas to take firm action if violations are found by the involved parties.
“In line with the Minister’s instructions, examinations will be conducted starting from the Prison Head, the Head of Prison Security, to the escorting officers regarding the incident in question,” Rika said.
It is known that Supriadi became a detainee at Kendari Class IIA Prison after being sentenced to five years in prison and a fine of Rp 600 million. In the case, Supriadi was found guilty of abusing his authority by allowing a barge carrying nickel from the illegal mining of PT Pandu Citra Mulia (PCM) to pass. The activity used documents from PT Alam Mitra Indah Nugraha (AMIN) via the jetty of PT Kurnia Mining Resources (KMR).
