KemenPPPA: Implementing Regulation for PP Tunas to Protect Children in the Digital Space
Jakarta — The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection welcomed the issuance of Ministerial Regulation No. 9 of 2026 by the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Kominfo), believing it will strengthen child protection in the digital space.
‘The state must be present to mitigate the various risks faced by children in the digital space, such as exposure to dangerous content, cyberbullying, and exploitation via digital platforms,’ said PPPA Minister Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Saturday.
The Ministerial Regulation from the Ministry of Communications and Digital is the implementing regulation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Administration in Child Protection (PP Tunas).
According to him, Komdigi’s move through this regulation also encourages electronic system providers to deliver safe, child-friendly digital services and strengthen the ecosystem of child protection.
However, this policy needs to be accompanied by strengthened digital literacy as well as the role of families in supporting children during activities in the digital space.
She also warned that restricting access to particular platforms could potentially push children to seek other unsafe routes, such as using VPNs or unmonitored channels.
‘Child protection is not enough merely through access restrictions. Digital literacy, prudent oversight, and good communication between parents and children must also be strengthened,’ said Minister Arifah Choiri Fauzi.
She emphasised that child protection in the digital space requires the involvement of families, schools, communities, and various institutions.
‘Positive parenting in the digital era is the key so that children can use technology safely, healthily, and responsibly,’ Arifah Fauzi.
