The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj), in conjunction with the Consular Function Team of the Jeddah Consulate General (KJRI Jeddah), continues to provide accompaniment to Indonesian umrah pilgrims, particularly in the repatriation process through King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This monitoring and assistance is being conducted in response to the escalation of the United States–Israel conflict with Iran, which has impacted the travel of pilgrims. “Officers remain on the ground to directly monitor the departure process of Indonesian umrah pilgrims at King Abdulaziz International Airport,” said M Ilham Effendy, Technical Staff for Hajj at the Jeddah Office of Hajj Affairs, in a statement on Saturday, 7 March 2026. “All flights monitored on that day were reported to be proceeding in accordance with their scheduled departure,” Ilham added. Consequently, the number of Indonesian umrah pilgrims who have been observed returning home reached 14,796 people, from 28 February 2026 to 5 March 2026. During the monitoring, 158 pilgrims were recorded as encountering delays or being held up in the repatriation process. The government is coordinating with various parties to ensure that handling of pilgrims experiencing flight delays proceeds optimally. Kemenhaj, through its representative in Saudi Arabia together with the Airport Task Force, has also carried out intensive monitoring and coordination with airlines. Communication with umrah travel organisers has also been undertaken to ensure all pilgrims receive appropriate handling and can return to their homeland safely.
