Kemdiktisaintek builds research ecosystem through consortium approach
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is striving to build a research ecosystem focused on tangible impacts and cross-sector collaboration through a research consortium approach.
The Director General of Research and Development at Kemdiktisaintek RI, Fauzan Adziman, explained that the consortium is directed towards collaboratively resolving various national strategic issues, with an appropriate approach through methods, frameworks, and measurable indicators to enhance the downstreaming of higher education research outcomes.
“The consortium approach is important for uniting the strengths of higher education institutions in addressing national strategic issues. With directed collaboration and the use of appropriate methods and indicators, the downstreaming of research outcomes can proceed more effectively,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday.
Fauzan explained that the government is promoting the strengthening of the research ecosystem through the integration of various funding sources, including ministry budgets, support from research institutions, and the utilisation of endowment funds to ensure programme sustainability while improving the effectiveness of national research funding.
Additionally, research policy directions are focused on a problem-based approach, with priorities on strategic issues such as food security, climate change, and health. This approach is expected to produce more relevant and solution-oriented research.
“Research must start from real problems so that the results can be implemented and provide clear solutions,” he stated.
To support this, Fauzan mentioned that his side is developing a research platform that can connect research outcomes with industry needs, as well as expanding the utilisation of technology.
In the context of downstreaming, the transformation of research outcomes into products and innovations ready for use continues to be strengthened through partnerships with industry, including joint funding schemes, as well as the use of methods and indicators to measure the readiness and utilisation of research outcomes.
“Collaboration, funding integration, and the use of appropriate frameworks will accelerate downstreaming and ensure that research provides tangible benefits,” said Fauzan Adziman.
