Kejagung Already Knows Fugitive Jurist Tan's Location: Still Under Continuous Surveillance
The Head of Public Relations and Information at the Attorney General’s Office, Anang Supriatna, revealed that the investigative team has mapped out the hiding location of Jurist Tan. Currently, the Prosecutor’s Office is continuously conducting tight monitoring of the individual’s movements. “The investigators already know (the location), but it’s still being detected and monitored continuously,” Anang told reporters at the Kejagung complex in South Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026). On the other hand, Anang explained that his office is continuously coordinating with the National Central Bureau (NCB) of the Indonesian National Police regarding the application for a red notice on Jurist. However, he said, the red notice application is still under review by Interpol in Lyon, France. “We have requested a red notice to Interpol in Lyon through the NCB here. Until now, there has been no approval from the central Interpol side, so we just have to wait,” he clarified. Even while awaiting the green light from Interpol’s headquarters, Kejagung assured that it is not standing idle. Anang stated that his office is pursuing various other international cooperation channels to bring JT back to Indonesia. “We continue to coordinate, not only relying on the Interpol channel, but also coordinating with other parties that we can consider as partners, other institutions that can assist us,” Anang revealed. Anang also emphasised that a red notice is not an absolute guarantee that a fugitive will be immediately captured. According to him, cooperation in repatriating fugitives greatly depends on the political will of the country where the fugitive is hiding. “It should be remembered that once the red notice is issued, it does not immediately become binding, because it is voluntary for Interpol members. It depends on the political will of each country. Whether they want to or not? If they are cooperative, it can happen,” Anang explained. For information, Jurist Tan is one of the key suspects in the corruption case of Chromebook procurement currently being investigated by Kejagung. The other suspects in the case have already entered the trial process.
