Kediri still lacks ballot boxes, booths

KEDIRI, East Java: The Regental General Elections Commission (KPUD) branch in the town of Kediri, East Java, needs another 228 ballot boxes for the upcoming elections, an official said on Friday.

"We need a total of 2,816 ballot boxes for 704 polling stations here but until now we have only received 2,588 from the central KPU. The remaining 288 boxes are yet to arrive," KPUD spokesman Kristianto Gunadi said.

"We also still need 672 polling booths in addition to the 712 booths already sent by the KPU," he added.

More than 145 million voters will elect legislators on April 5. The first-ever direct presidential election is scheduled for July 5, with a possible runoff on Sept. 20. -- Antara
