Kebon Pedes Underpass Development Plan: How Residents Are Coping with Traffic Jams
Bogor - The Bogor City Government (Pemkot) together with the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) plans to build an underpass in the Kebon Pedes area to ease the traffic jams that frequently occur during rush hours, such as school departure and work return times. A resident, Muslim (39), believes that the underpass construction will force road users to seek alternative routes. “Access via Kedung Badak will take longer to reach my teaching place in Katulampa, East Bogor,” said Muslim on Friday (3/4/2026). “Via Sholeh Iskandar Road, which will pass through the underpass, it will also get stuck in traffic in front of the Delima Jaya office,” he continued. He added that similar traffic issues could occur on other routes, such as the RE Martadinata Flyover, which would take even longer to reach his workplace. “If it’s really needed for the underpass construction, then I agree. Rush hours are usually jammed,” he said. “At most, we’ll follow the government’s instructions later. If it’s closed, we’ll probably be directed to go around via Kedung Badak, which is indeed farther,” he stated. Nevertheless, Parman also approves of the Kebon Pedes underpass construction to reduce traffic jams during rush hours. “Well, I think it’s good, so there’s no more traffic,” he added. Muslim revealed that he once got stuck in traffic on Kebon Pedes Road for about 15 minutes during rush hour. “If there’s no train, it’s not long, about 15 minutes,” he explained. “It’s quite a while if we’re in a hurry to leave or return,” he added.
