KDM Allocates IDR 9 Billion for the Renovation of the Pajajaran Museum
The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, has expressed his commitment to the development of the Pajajaran Museum in the Batu Tulis area of Bogor. He announced plans to allocate a budget of IDR 9 billion to improve the facilities for storing historical artefacts.
“Regarding the plan to allocate IDR 9 billion for the Pajajaran Museum, we need to plan it carefully. From an architectural perspective, the museum needs to undergo changes to truly reflect a museum that meets standards,” said Dedi, as quoted on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Dedi, as he is affectionately known, emphasised that the museum must undergo an architectural transformation to meet the technical standards of a proper museum, rather than being just an ordinary physical building.
Several technical aspects have been highlighted by Dedi, such as the arrangement of air circulation and room temperature. This is very important to preserve the ancient artefacts and minimise the risk of fire.
He also commented on the use of current building materials, which he believes are not yet ideal.
“Although the current condition of the building is considered not yet up to specification, for example, the use of lightweight concrete blocks, it is better to have something than nothing. I will discuss with the Mayor and the team of experts to improve the museum’s specifications using the allocated budget,” he added.
Dedi wants the museum to change the way people view the history of Pajajaran. He encourages that each relic, such as the Batu Tulis Inscription and the Binokasih Crown, should have a comprehensive academic manuscript.
“This activity aims to change our perspective, from being initially mystical to being technocratic. We need books or academic manuscripts that explain the history scientifically so that there is no missing link between the past and the future,” he stressed.
In addition to the museum, Dedi also highlighted the importance of conserving other historical sites in the area, including Sumur 7. He emphasised that the arrangement of these sites is purely for conservation and environmental comfort, not for the practice of worship. (LAN)
