KBRI Riyadh Hotline: Indonesian Nationals in Saudi Arabia Urged Not to Panic
The brutal and deadly attack by Israel and the United States on Iran on Saturday 28 February has sent shockwaves through the world.
The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Riyadh is continuously intensifying monitoring of Indonesian nationals (WNI) throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This measure has been taken following the escalation of regional conflict in the Middle East, which has affected the regional security situation.
The Acting Head of Social and Cultural Affairs at KBRI Riyadh, Mahendra, stated that monitoring is being conducted intensively through task force networks (satgas) and Indonesian community associations.
“Currently KBRI continues to monitor the condition of the Indonesian community spread throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through existing task forces and associations. Reports from them guide our assessment of the current condition of WNI,” Mahendra said as quoted by Antara on Monday 2 March.
Although generally the condition of WNI is being monitored as safe and they continue normal activities, KBRI has issued special notes regarding heightened vigilance at several strategic points. WNI are urged to exercise greater caution, particularly if located in areas adjacent to United States military installations.
“Vigilance still needs to be increased, especially in areas that are home to United States military installations, such as in the cities of Riyadh and Dammam,” Mahendra emphasised.
He added that Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) and students have so far continued to integrate with the local community and continue to follow official instructions from the local government.
As a mitigation measure, KBRI Riyadh has mandated WNI to actively maintain communication through WhatsApp community group chats in their respective regions, where KBRI representatives also monitor within these groups.
For WNI in Saudi Arabia, KBRI Riyadh recommends the following measures:
