KB Bank Finances PNM with Rp 500 Billion, Expanding Capital Access for Millions of Micro Businesses
PT Bank KB Indonesia Tbk (BBKP) has distributed a financing facility of Rp 500 billion to PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM).
This step was undertaken to expand financing access for micro and ultra-micro business operators in Indonesia whilst strengthening the company’s commitment to applying Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
The financing is directed to support various economic empowerment programmes operated by PNM, including the Mekaar programme (Prosperous Family Economic Development).
The collaboration between KB Bank and PNM is said to reflect the company’s strategy in channelling financing to sectors that have sustainable social impact.
Furthermore, this cooperation is also expected to strengthen the financing ecosystem that supports the growth of micro business operators in various regions.
KB Bank Director Widodo Suryadi stated that micro and ultra-micro business operators have an important role in the structure of the national economy.
He added that PNM holds a strategic position in reaching groups of society who have previously had limited access to formal financial services.
Financing support from KB Bank is expected to ensure that funds are channelled to productive economic activities that have a direct impact on community welfare.
“PNM has an important role in reaching groups of society who have previously had limited access to formal financial services. By supporting these programmes, we can ensure that financing is channelled to productive economic activities that provide real benefits for community welfare, particularly for female entrepreneurs who play a significant role in supporting family and community economies,” said Widodo.
In addition to Mekaar, PNM also operates the ULaMM programme (Micro Capital Service Unit) which provides capital support and business mentoring.
To date, the Mekaar programme has reached over 22.9 million underprivileged women scattered across 60,250 villages throughout Indonesia. This achievement demonstrates the broad scope of community-based economic empowerment programmes run by PNM.
PNM not only provides financing access to its customers, but also offers business mentoring to improve business capacity and ensure the sustainability of micro enterprises.
