KAI Update: 76 Passengers Discharged, 24 Still Under Treatment Following Bekasi Timur Incident
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) records that of the total 106 registered passengers, 76 individuals have been permitted to return home, while the remaining 24 are still undergoing treatment at various hospitals. This was conveyed by KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, regarding the latest developments in handling passengers affected by the incident at Bekasi Timur Station up to Saturday (2/4/2026). Anne stated that the company is currently focused on ensuring all passengers receive optimal support during the recovery process. “We understand that the recovery process takes time. Therefore, we continue to accompany our customers and their families,” said Anne. Anne added that KAI continues to operate an Information Post at Bekasi Timur Station until 11 May 2026 as a support space for customers and families. Through this post, follow-up health services, administrative coordination, and trauma healing are conducted gradually to ensure each process is handled more directedly. On the other hand, the service for returning customers’ belongings is still ongoing. As of 2 May 2026, 115 items have been found, with 57 items already handed over to their owners, while 58 others are still in the verification process. “We urge customers who feel they have lost items to collect them via the Bekasi Timur Post,” she explained. At the incident site, support from the community continues to arrive. Residents and communities come to offer prayers and leave flowers as a form of care. This presence serves as a strength for families going through difficult times. As time progresses, services at Bekasi Timur Station have resumed serving the public. Since operations restarted on 28 April 2026, the KRL passenger volume has reached 15,774 users for Gate In and 20,575 users for Gate Out.
