Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) continues to provide reliable rail-based logistics services to support national distribution. Throughout the first quarter of 2026, KAI recorded a volume of plantation commodity transport reaching 162,261 tonnes, an increase compared to the same period in 2025, which stood at 156,100 tonnes.

This movement demonstrates that the distribution of plantation products remains stable across various regions. Rail transport offers certainty in travel time with large carrying capacity, allowing commodities from plantation areas to flow more smoothly to processing plants.

KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that rail logistics services play an important role in maintaining the smoothness of the national supply chain, particularly in the plantation sector.

“Distributing plantation products via rail helps ensure the continuity of raw material supply from upstream to downstream. With large carrying capacity and more predictable travel times, commodity movement can proceed more efficiently,” said Anne.

The utilisation of CPO is becoming increasingly strategic alongside the development of vegetable-based fuel oil (BBM) mixtures in Indonesia. Palm oil serves as one of the components in these mixtures, supporting the ongoing development of renewable energy.

Through rail-based logistics transport, raw materials such as CPO can move from one point to another. This journey helps keep industries running while ensuring the availability of energy from domestic raw materials.

“We ensure that every logistics journey takes place safely and on time. From one journey to the next, this role helps keep economic activities running and growing,” Anne concluded.
