KAI Jakarta adds 30 track inspectors ahead of Lebaran 2026 transport operations post
PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daop 1 Jakarta has added 30 personnel to the Rail Track Inspectors (regular staff) to bolster cross-border oversight as Lebaran 2026 transport operations post approaches amid a projected significant increase in travel volume. ‘This addition aims to increase patrol intensity and accelerate handling if potential infrastructure disturbances are found,’ said Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, in Jakarta on Wednesday. Currently, there are 96 track inspectors in Daop 1 Jakarta, responsible for inspecting the rail infrastructure along 895,667.5 metres of track to ensure every train journey proceeds safely. The inspections are conducted using two methods: foot patrols to verify the condition of each component of the infrastructure, and Rail Track Inspection Vehicles (KPJ) to reach longer stretches efficiently. Inspectors comprehensively check all line elements, from rails, rail joints, fasteners, sleepers, ballast, to switch components. ‘Each finding is recorded and promptly addressed through maintenance mechanisms to prevent travel disruptions,’ the spokesman said. In Daop 1 Jakarta, inspections focus on strategic high-traffic routes such as Jakarta Kota–Cikampek, Manggarai–Cikampek, Tanah Abang–Merak, Duri–Basuta, Duri–Tangerang, Jakarta Kota–Tanjung Priok and the Loop Line. ‘Track inspections are conducted regularly and thoroughly, even during hours with low operational risk, such as late night to early morning, to enable optimal checks without disrupting train services,’ Franoto added. He also said that an adaptive inspection pattern to travel density forms part of risk management to ensure there are no gaps in track safety surveillance.
