KAI Expresses Deepest Condolences, Ensures All Victims Are Handled, Families Receive Information

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The incident at Bekasi Timur Station has brought profound sorrow. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) extends its deepest condolences to all victims and affected families, while understanding the anxiety of customers awaiting news in this situation.
From the outset of the incident, all efforts have been focused on handling the victims, with the primary priority on the safety and condition of every passenger, ensuring that evacuation and handling processes proceed as quickly as possible.
All 240 passengers of the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek have been successfully evacuated in safe condition.
Meanwhile, handling is focused on the affected KRL passengers. Based on preliminary data updates as of 02.00 WIB, four people have been recorded as deceased and 79 injured. All victims have been evacuated and are receiving treatment at several referral hospitals.
Treatment is being provided at several healthcare facilities, including RSUD Bekasi, RS Bella Bekasi, RS Primaya, RS Mitra Plumbon Cibitung, RS Bakti Kartini, RS Siloam Bekasi Timur, RS Hermina, as well as RS Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur and Barat.
In the handling process, KAI, together with Basarnas, TNI, Polri, and medical teams, is acting swiftly to provide assistance and ensure all victims receive treatment as quickly as possible.
Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, stated that the evacuation process is being maximised, prioritising victim safety and accelerating handling at the site.
“We are focusing on evacuation and victim handling efforts with all our strength. For the cause of the incident, we are leaving it to the KNKT to investigate more thoroughly,” he said.
KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that all victims have received medical treatment and the evacuation process is continuing maximally.
“Currently, four people are recorded as deceased and 79 injured. We have taken all victims to hospitals to receive the best treatment. We continue to conduct evacuations and ensure all victims receive assistance as quickly as possible,” he said.
He added that KAI is handing over the investigation process to the KNKT to ensure the cause of the incident can be identified comprehensively.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, expressed condolences and apologies to all customers.
“We extend our deepest condolences for this incident and apologies to all customers. Our current focus is to ensure all victims receive the best treatment and continue coordinating with all parties so the handling process runs well,” she said.
As of 01.04 WIB, the downstream track on the Bekasi–Tambun line has been reopened for train travel.
Meanwhile, the upstream track is still undergoing evacuation and handling at the site. KAI continues to strive for accelerated handling so that travel can return to normal gradually, while still prioritising safety.
Alongside handling at the site, KAI is adjusting KRL train operations according to track conditions so that services can run gradually.
KAI has also prepared an Information Post at Bekasi Timur Station to help families obtain information regarding passengers.
During the evacuation process, affected KA customers are given a policy of full ticket fare refunds, with a submission period of up to seven days ahead.
For KA Argo Bromo Anggrek passengers on the Surabaya Pasarturi – Gambir route, KAI has arranged onward services in the form of buses to Gambir Station.
All Long-Distance Train services from Gambir and Pasarsenen Stations are temporarily halted to support the handling process and ensure travel safety.
