PT KAI Regional Operations (Daop) 2 Bandung is undertaking comprehensive precautionary measures to address potential extreme weather risks, monitoring 55 critical points along the railway network within its operational area during the 2026 Lebaran holiday exodus.

Executive Vice President of PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung Hendra Wahyono explained that the 55 monitored points are vulnerable to subsidence caused by unstable soil, landslides, flooding, and bridge damage. Speaking at Bandung Station Complex on Friday, Wahyono highlighted that the Ciganea bridge in Purwakarta ranks among the most critical locations requiring special attention due to the rapid river current and persistently high rainfall levels.

Additional critical points identified include Rancaekek, Cimekar, Cicalengka, and the Lampegan-Cibogor route, all of which are subject to intensive monitoring owing to their potential to disrupt train services, particularly during severe weather.

To mitigate disruptions at these locations, KAI has deployed additional personnel in vulnerable areas and positioned emergency material supplies (AMUS) at several strategic sites, including Purwakarta, Bandung, and Tasikmalaya. Ballast materials have been placed in Tasikmalaya and Cibungur to enable rapid response to any track damage. The company is also deploying ground-movement sensor technology to anticipate incidents in areas with unstable soil, currently installed in the Bumi Waluya region.

KAI Daop 2 Bandung is mobilising approximately 1,700 internal personnel plus outsourced staff, totalling around 3,000 personnel, with approximately 150 additional staff specifically stationed at high-risk locations. Security operations have been reinforced by 778 combined personnel, comprising 698 railway police (Polsuska) and security staff, 19 regional officers, and 61 external security personnel.

On the operational safety front, the company has deployed 154 extra personnel, including 58 additional track inspectors, 57 extra level-crossing guards, and 35 officers monitoring special surveillance areas. Additionally, 14 Mobile Customer Service officers are distributed across major stations including Cimahi, Bandung, Kiaracondong, and Tasikmalaya. Health preparedness is ensured through 12 medical posts staffed with general practitioners, paramedics, ambulances, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

For the 2026 Lebaran transport period, KAI Daop 2 Bandung is providing a capacity of 345,840 seats, with an average of 15,720 seats daily across 28 train services (24 regular and 4 additional). As of 12 March 2026, ticket sales have reached 233,872 tickets, representing 67.6 per cent of total capacity. Demand is also evident from the sale of 54,462 discounted tickets offering 30 per cent reductions, with popular routes served by Kahuripan Train, additional Kiaracondong-Surabaya Gubeng trains, Cikuray, Kutojaya Selatan, Malabar, and Harina trains.

To support smooth operations at 54 stations servicing the transport period, KAI Daop 2 Bandung has ensured the availability of rolling stock comprising 31 locomotives, 241 carriages, and 4 KRDE trainsets. The implementation of facial recognition facilities at Bandung and Kiaracondong stations, as well as cancellation services at five stations, have been optimised to reduce queuing and enhance customer convenience.
