KAI Commuter regrets vandalism on Rangkasbitung Commuter Line
KAI Commuter has expressed regret over vandalism involving object-throwing at the Rangkasbitung Commuter Line service on Sunday evening (24 May). Two incidents occurred: the first on train number 1762 bound for Tigaraksa Station on the Daru-Tigaraksa route at approximately 7:20 PM WIB, causing one window and one passenger door glass to crack; the second on train number 1783 heading to Tanah Abang Station on the Kebayoran-Palmerah route around 7:44 PM WIB, resulting in two broken windows and doors. Security personnel from Tenjo and Kebayoran stations responded to the reports, searching the area for suspects and securing the railway line, but no perpetrators were found. To ensure passenger safety, damaged glass was replaced at Parung Panjang Station by maintenance staff. KAI Commuter cited the 2007 Railway Act, which strictly prohibits vandalism damaging railway infrastructure, and noted that offenders could face up to 15 years in prison under the Criminal Code. The company urged local governments, community leaders, and parents to educate the public on safeguarding railway safety.
