PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI continues to strengthen women-friendly services through various facilities, from special seats to the provision of 120 lactation rooms at stations. This step is part of KAI’s efforts to provide safer and more comfortable journeys amid the increasing mobility of the public using trains. From January to March 2026, KAI Group served 128,055,072 customers, an increase of 9.97 percent compared to the same period the previous year. This figure shows that trains are increasingly becoming the primary choice for the public for various travel needs, both daily and long-distance. Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, said that the development of services is carried out to meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers. “KAI continues to provide services that are responsive to public needs, from women-friendly facilities, child-friendly access, to disability-friendly amenities,” Anne stated in a press release received by Kompas.com on Monday (20/4/2026). Through the Access by KAI app, female customers can also select seats adjacent to other women via the female seat map feature. In addition, for pregnant mothers, priority seats, special counters, and pregnant mother pins are available to facilitate identification and service. At stations, KAI also provides 120 lactation rooms as supporting facilities for breastfeeding mothers during their journeys. For customers bringing children, kids play areas are available at several stations, along with priority seating and family-friendly evacuation routes.
