Kadin believes Eid and automotive exhibitions drive commercial vehicle sales
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has identified the momentum surrounding the Eid holiday and various automotive exhibitions in early 2026 as key drivers of increased commercial vehicle sales across the nation.
Saleh Husin, Deputy Chairman of Kadin for Industrial Affairs, stated in Jakarta on Thursday that the rise in commercial vehicle sales was driven by increased distribution activities ahead of the significant religious holiday. “The increase in commercial vehicle sales in Indonesia in February 2026 is driven by several major factors. Firstly, the momentum approaching Ramadan and Eid, which increases distribution activities, prompting logistics operators, retailers, and SMEs to strengthen their operational vehicle fleets,” Husin explained.
Beyond seasonal factors, demand for commercial vehicles also increased from companies and fleet consumers conducting fleet expansion or renewal at the beginning of the year to support business operations.
“Secondly, demand from fleet consumers or companies that are expanding or renewing their vehicle fleets at the start of the year to support distribution and business operational activities,” he noted.
Government projects and economic activity in the real sector also contributed to the need for vehicles for logistics and distribution purposes. “Thirdly, government project support and real sector economic activity that require vehicles for logistics and distribution operations,” Husin added.
Additionally, automotive exhibitions and various promotional programmes in early 2026 provided stimulus to commercial vehicle transactions. “Automotive exhibitions and early-year promotional programmes also drive vehicle transactions, coupled with improved purchasing power among business operators who are beginning to invest in operational vehicles at the start of the year,” he stated.
PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) reported that sales in February 2026 increased approximately 64 per cent compared to the previous month. Dony Ismi Saputra, Deputy of Sales and Marketing Managing Director of PT SIS, indicated that February represented the period with the highest surge due to seasonal Eid factors.
“Compared to January, the increase was around 64 per cent,” Saputra said following a press conference on Suzuki Bengkel Siaga 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March.
