Jusuf Kalla's Side Responds to Ade Armando's Desire to Meet
Spokesperson for Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK), Husain Abdullah, has responded to social media activist Ade Armando’s statement that he is willing to meet JK following the report against him in the alleged incitement and hate speech case.
Husain did not answer whether JK would accept if Ade Armando wanted to meet. He only said that all parties should follow the ongoing legal process.
“Since the legal process is ongoing, we just follow it,” said Husain when contacted on Wednesday (6/5).
Ade previously claimed that the report against him is not the first time. Ahead of the 2024 Election, he was also reported for hate speech for criticising land ownership in Yogyakarta. At that time, he also issued an apology.
In this case, Ade also claimed to be willing to meet JK and express apologies to Muslims and Christians if his statements on the Cokro TV YouTube channel were deemed offensive to them.
However, Ade emphasised that none of his statements were intended to hurt JK or Muslims and Christians.
“If I am brought together with Mr JK, I would like that too. Or if I have to apologise to the Muslim community or the Christian community, I am willing,” said Ade during a press conference at the PSI DPP office on Tuesday (5/5).
Ade along with Permadi Arya was reported to the Metro Jaya Police regarding alleged incitement and provocation following a clip of the sermon by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) while preaching at the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Mosque some time ago.
The report was filed by the Maluku Advocacy Profession Alliance (APAM) and registered with number LP/B/2767/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA.
Recently, 40 Islamic mass organisations under the Alliance for Religious Harmony also reported Ade and Permadi to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency on Tuesday (5/5).
Not only Ade and Permadi, the 40 organisations also included a report against PSI Council Secretary Grace Natalie.
Representative of LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, stated that the report was made regarding the polemic narrative included in each of their posts about the video clip of the sermon by Indonesia’s 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) at the UGM Mosque while explaining the conflict in Poso and Ambon.
“LBH Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia and LBH Syarikat Islam along with LBH Muhammadiyah, Hidayatullah, AFKN and other organisations have reported three figures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,” said Gurun Arisastra to reporters at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).
