Jusuf Kalla States Indonesia Supports Saudi Arabian Stability
Jakarta — Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla stated that Indonesia supports the stability and security of Saudi Arabia amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region.
“Indonesia remains committed to supporting Saudi Arabia because the country is the centre of the Islamic ummah, home to the Grand Mosque and other sacred sites,” Kalla said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said Indonesia hopes that the security situation in the region remains conducive and does not escalate into wider conflict that could trigger regional tensions.
According to Kalla, Indonesia’s position is to continue supporting regional stability whilst promoting a neutral approach and efforts to maintain peace amid the evolving geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East.
The statement was made after meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Faisal Abdullah Al-Amudi at his residence in South Jakarta on Tuesday.
During the meeting, both discussed various matters, ranging from social courtesies during the month of Ramadan to developments in the security situation in the Middle East region.
Kalla noted that there are reports of attacks related to military facilities in Saudi Arabian territory amid the developing regional conflict dynamics.
He assessed that the targets of these attacks are not directly aimed at the Saudi Arabian government, but rather at facilities connected to United States military bases in the region.
