Leaders of the Judicial Commission (KY) visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday (19 February) afternoon to discuss a number of matters, including the handling of ethical proceedings against a Depok District Court (PN Depok) judge who has been named a suspect in an alleged bribery case.

“This is a courtesy call and also a follow-up to the sting operation against the judge at PN Depok, in the context of enforcing judicial ethics and the code of conduct for judges by the Judicial Commission,” said KY Chairman Abdul Chair Ramadhan at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday (19 February).

Abdul emphasised that the KY would not tolerate any form of corruption, collusion, or nepotism.

“This is a follow-up regarding the enforcement of judicial ethics and conduct. Zero tolerance — there is nothing other than the strictest possible enforcement,” he said.

The KPK is currently processing legal proceedings against PN Depok Chief Judge I Wayan Eka Mariarta, PN Depok Deputy Chief Judge Bambang Setyawan, and PN Depok bailiff Yohansyah Maruanaya as suspects in receiving bribes related to a land dispute case.

Meanwhile, PT Karabha Digdaya (KD) President Director Trisnadi Yulrisman and PT KD Head of Corporate Legal Berliana Tri Kusuma have been named by the KPK as suspects in giving bribes.

The suspects have been charged with violating Article 605 paragraph (a) and/or Article 606 point (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with the Anti-Corruption Law.

In the case of Bambang Setyawan, the KPK has also charged him with the offence of gratification as regulated under Article 12B of the Anti-Corruption Law.

The KPK has detained all five suspects for an initial period of 20 days from 6 to 25 February 2025 at the State Detention Centre branch at the KPK’s Red and White Building.

“In accordance with the provisions of Article 101 of the 2026 Criminal Procedure Code, the KPK has also sent a letter to the Supreme Court regarding the detention of a judge,” said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Friday evening (6 February).

In the course of the investigation, the KPK has searched the office and official residence of PN Depok Chief Judge I Wayan Eka Mariarta as well as the official residence of PN Depok Deputy Chief Judge Bambang Setyawan.

A number of items of evidence believed to be connected to the case were seized, including several documents and cash amounting to US$50,000.
