The Judicial Commission (KY) states that the increase in allowances for ad hoc judges in accordance with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 5 of 2026 must be accompanied by improved performance from the judges, both in terms of independence and integrity. “KY hopes that this welfare increase can enhance the independence and integrity of judges, as well as provide the best public service to those seeking justice,” said KY member and spokesperson Anita Kadir in her statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026). KY welcomes and appreciates the government’s decision to raise the financial rights and facilities for ad hoc judges. “This increase is a good intention from President Prabowo Subianto to improve welfare in order to realise judicial independence,” Anita stated. The moment of the allowance increase for ad hoc judges is expected to support the zero-tolerance policy towards violations of the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Judicial Conduct (KEPPH), especially those of a transactional nature. Under Perpres 5/2026, ad hoc judges will receive a monthly allowance, the amount of which is set out in the regulation’s attachment. In the attachment to Perpres 5/2026, ad hoc judges in first-instance corruption courts, first-instance industrial relations courts, first-instance fisheries courts, first-instance human rights courts, and first-instance commercial courts receive an allowance of Rp 49,300,000, while the highest, for cassation-level courts, reaches Rp 105,270,000.
