A judge at the Mataram Corruption Court has ordered public prosecutors to develop the corruption case involving the 2022 procurement of information and communication technology devices, specifically Chromebooks, at the East Lombok Education and Culture Office. Former East Lombok Regent Sukiman Azmy and Regional Secretary Muhammad Juaini Taofik are implicated in the case.

The involvement of Sukiman Azmy and Juaini Taofik was revealed in the verdicts for the defendant, Director of CV Cerdas Mandiri, Salmukin, and marketing staff of PT Jepe Press Media Utama, M Jaosi alias Ojik.

“Having considered this, the panel of judges is convinced that there are strong indications of the involvement of the aforementioned parties (Sukiman Azmy and Juaini Taofik) in the chain of actions that caused the criminal act of corruption in the aforementioned case,” said ad hoc judge Fadhli Handra while reading the considerations in the verdict for defendant Salmukin on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Sukiman Azmy and Juaini Taofik are suspected of receiving money flows in the corruption case. In the verdict considerations, Fadhli revealed that the panel of judges lacks the authority to designate someone as a defendant. However, for the sake of upholding the law and a sense of justice, the panel deems it necessary to provide affirmation.

“Ordering the public prosecutor to follow up on the facts of this trial by conducting further investigation and development against former East Lombok Regent Sukiman Azmy and East Lombok Regional Secretary Muhammad Juaini Taofik, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” ordered Fadhli.

The order, continued Fadhli, is part of the moral and juridical duty of the panel to ensure law enforcement is carried out comprehensively without bias and reaches all parties reasonably suspected of being responsible.

“Thus, the handling of the aforementioned case does not stop at the defendants. It must be developed to uncover involved parties for the achievement of justice,” explained Fadhli.

The involvement of Sukiman Azmy and Juaini Taofik also emerged in the verdict for defendant M Jaosi. M Jaosi’s actions in the case are inseparable from the roles of Sukiman Azmy and Juaini Taofik.

“The defendant’s actions are related to the roles of local government officials in strategic positions in policy-making,” said Fadhli.

Fadhli revealed that Sukiman Azmy and Juaini Taofik have the potential to influence the implementation of local government policies. Fadhli ordered the prosecutors to develop the case to uncover the involvement of other responsible parties.

“The panel deems it necessary to order the prosecutor to follow up on the facts revealed in the trial. By conducting further examination of witnesses Sukiman Azmy and Muhammad Juaini Taofik to ascertain whether or not these witnesses are involved in the criminal act of corruption in the aforementioned case,” clarified Fadhli.

It is known that defendants Salmukin and M Jaosi have been found guilty in the case. Salmukin was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 500 million subsidiary 100 days’ imprisonment, as well as repaying substitute money of Rp 1.32 billion subsidiary three years.

Meanwhile, defendant M Jaosi was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 500 million subsidiary 100 days and repaying substitute money of Rp 238 million subsidiary three years’ imprisonment.
