TNT now serves domestic shipment, aims to be market leader

TNT Express Indonesia has announced it was now serving the
domestic market in 16 major cities across the country, making it
the first delivery services firm that offers an integrated
international and domestic service in Indonesia.
"We are confident that we're able to apply our recognized high
quality of international service into domestic service," said TNT
Indonesian president director Colin Moran.
Moran told a press conference last week that its delivery
services would enable customers to receive documents or packages
before 9 a.m., at noon, or at the close of business hours on the
next day.
It's called "The Next Day" service.
In order to support such services, TNT had invested Rp 2
billion (US$210,000), which would be expanded to Rp 5 billion and
Rp 10 billion in the next five to 10 years, Moran said as quoted
as saying by Antara.
Separately, TNT sales and marketing director Andry Adiwinarso
said that it was hoping to attract mostly corporate customers.
"But, individual customers are still welcome to use our
services," he said, adding that the rates would be somewhere
between the rates charged by foreign and domestic providers.
Australian company Thomas Nationwide Transport (TNT) started
its express delivery business in Indonesia in 1979 under the name
of PT Skypak International.
"Our company has now become a major player in Australia,
Europe, Thailand and China. We hope that the new service will
make us the market leader in Indonesia," said Moran.
