'RCTI' to air 'Fear Factor Indonesia'

Following success reaped from airing NBC's Fear Factor, private
television station Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia is
challenging local participants to take part in a thrilling Fear
Factor Indonesia (FFI) competition.

The first episode of FFI will be aired on Saturday Nov. 19,
2005, at 10 p.m. Six beautiful models, contestants for the first
episode, competed in three games to select one winner -- the most
fearless -- who would bag the Rp 50 million cash prize.

Actor-cum-model Agatsya Kandau will host the program.

In a statement made available to The Jakarta Post, one of the
contestants, Devina, said her initial reason for taking up the
offer to compete was that she was simply curious about the
program.

She was a huge fan of NBC's Fear Factor. and has long wanted
to conquer her own fear within.

One of the challenges in the first episode was to be buried
with worms. Devine clocked the best time, although she admitted,
"I didn't know how I did that because I'm afraid of worms."

RCTI said that those interested in taking up the challenges
must enroll via its website www.fearfactor-indonesia.com.

"After we select the participants, we shall have an audition
here. Six people who make it to this phase will go to Malaysia to
shoot the program," said the station's media relations official
Hafni S. Damayanti.

Participants are expected to have at least one thing that he
or she fears, like a fear of heights, vehicles, water, speed,
insects, or certain animals because the games will not only be
about physical but also mental stamina.

Program production will be done along with that for Fear
Factor Malaysia and Fear Factor India.

Getting the license from Fear Factor International, which is
produced by Cross Media Service, RCTI claimed the program would
be the most expensively produced program ever by the station --
and in Indonesia.

"The expatriate team, standardized properties from Fear Factor
International and stunt coordinators Francois Grobelaar and H.B.
Naveen are with us to guarantee the safety of the participants,"
